OZLEESLOAN
a new bell to ring, a new song to sing
A READINESS OF THINGS I DO
name -- Oz Lee Sloan
nickname -- Sloan, Ozzie, Ozzielee, etc.
gender -- Female
age -- Twenty, nearly twenty one.
birthday -- 9th of March
group -- Visual Art Student Teacher
grade -- Student Teacher
clique -- Mozart
orientation -- No one is really sure when it comes to Ozzie, most consider her to be straight, but she’s kissed a few girls in her time. It doesn’t make her gay, straight, or bi- she just is.
hometown -- She grew up in a van- so there really was no ‘hometown’ for Oz. She was born on the side of the road somewhere in Colorado, taken to the hospital shortly after just for the sake of certificates, social security numbers, and the like.
your blood, your bones, your voice
AND YOUR GHOST
hair color -- Her hair really doesn’t change from one day to the next, but people still have a difficult time really describing it. As a deep, rich brown- a lot of people mistakenly assume that it’s actually black, or a very dark auburn. If she doesn’t straighten it- her hair normally has a light curl to it. If she does straighten it (which generally isn’t a very long process) then it is, obviously, straight. Oz has long hair, but not a lot of people tend to notice it’s length right off the bat.
eye color -- Her eyes are hazel- but the color changes from mostly green to mostly brown, it’s usually never really in between for a long period of time. The changing of her eye color has absolutely nothing to do with her moods, and it’s normally a slow process over a few days from one to the other. Ozzie’s eyes don’t hold a lot of expression to them, she’s always come off as a little more guarded than most- a little bit more secretive… There is something noticeable about her eyes, though. She can’t seem to hold eye contact for a long amount of time. It’s not because it makes her uncomfortable- but more because she has a tendency not to blink whenever she’s looking someone directly in the eye. She noticed she was making people uncomfortable, so she tends to look around at other things while she’s talking to people.
height -- 5’6”
weight -- 120lbs
build -- Oz doesn’t really have the curves that most seem to desire, but she’s not particularly lanky, either. She has a finely muscled build; and sure, she’s in shape and generally attractive as a rule, but her limbs can look unnaturally long sometimes. She’s a slender young woman, but her figure isn’t exactly curvy at all. Her shoulders and hips are the same when it comes to how broad she is, which really isn’t that much. If one had to pick a word- it would be lanky, but she’s not restricted to that.
distinguishing features? -- What most tend to notice about Ozzie is her outfits. She can’t seem to help but be drawn to bright colors and thrown-together looks, but somehow she manages to pull it off with flying colors. No pun intended. Other than that- she has a tattoo of a bird with a flower on her lower back, posed as if it’s flying away.
overall -- On a typical day, Oz will normally have her hair down, either curled or straightened. She adores bright colors and generally odd-looking outfits, so that’s probably what she’ll be seen in. Colorful bandanas, big necklaces, either baggy or tight clothing- you name it, so long as she likes the colors and the texture, Ozzie will most likely wear it. What she wears actually doesn’t reflect her personality- but she’s similar to a fish in that, “bright and shiny things” just catch her attention so quickly. Her skin is pretty nicely tanned, but most of her time is spent painting on the back porch of her apartment, so that’s understandable.
i was a hero early in the morning
I AIN'T NO HERO IN THE NIGHT
likes --
- That smell just after it rains.
- Whenever a man gets a peacefully thoughtful look on his face
- Painting and Sculpting
- Making her own clothing
- Coffee and tea.
dislikes --
- Bees, hornets, wasps… Whatever you want to call them.
- car exhaust
- Trying to relate to teenagers and their parental issues.
- Whining.
- Loosing things.
fears --
- Bees, hornets, and wasps. It’s actually a phobia for her. The very mention of one makes her skin crawl, and if she sees one, she’s probably more likely to run the other way. If it’s close to her, or if it’s landed on her, Oz is more than likely going to break down in tears and stand in that spot, shaking like crazy and probably sweating a little bit. It’s debilitating for her- and as a practical joke, someone she went to school with once got her a card that made the sound of a bee whenever she opened it. She cried and ran out of the room.
- Being stalked. It’s never happened, but she’s terrified that one day- there’s going to be that creeper that follows her home, rapes her, and then shoots her in the face.
- Never becoming anything in life. She doesn’t want to be like her parents- she’d like a more stable lifestyle than that.
habits --
- Oz simply cannot hold eye contact for fear of making other people uncomfortable. If she were to try holding eye contact- she would reveal a habit of not blinking. The fact that she doesn’t seem to blink at all when she’s looking at someone while talking to them generally freaks them out, so she makes it a point to look off somewhere else whenever she’s speaking with them. Unfortunately- some people view that as a fault, too.
- If she’s having a deep conversation with someone, a hand will always be up by her face, either fiddling with her hair, nibbling away at her fingernails, or simply cupping her chin. This is only with deep conversations that require a lot of thought.
- Trying to talk to her while she’s focused on her work generally isn’t a good idea. The likelihood is that she actually has no idea who you are if she’s focusing on a painting or a sculpture. If she agrees to something while she’s obviously not focused on you- it would be wise to run it by her again after actually grabbing her attention.
secrets --
- ”I… had a miscarriage last year. I was nineteen, just about to turn twenty… I got a little stupid, had a little too much to drink I guess… I’m not sure- I didn’t even know I was pregnant until it happened. I’ll always be wondering who that little baby would have been.”
- ”This was… a long time ago. I was still in high school- I think I was sixteen. I had some… well, drugs. I sold them to this girl; and then she died. I didn’t really know her at all, but sometimes I think about her.”
- ”I used to do drugs. I don’t think it’s that much of a secret- but I’m not quite sure people really know the amount I used to do.”
overall -- Ozzie isn’t a shy woman at all. She doesn’t bounce off the walls constantly- but she’s relatively easy to talk to, so long as she’s not wrapped up in some project. Since she’s so young, a lot of students feel like they can relate to her- and they tend to try to get into her class if they just have to fill up that art credit. She generally doesn’t socialize with the students, even though they have a tendency to be close to her age than most of the teachers- she prefers more mature company if she has a choice in the matter, but sometimes she can be found quite simply partying. She has her secrets just like any other normal human out there- she regrets a few things, and there are certainly things about herself that she might consider changing, but she doesn’t hate nor love herself. She just is, she’s just a human that can make mistakes- and she understands that better than most seem to be able to.
Around strangers, she can seem like a very calm woman. She’s got her priorities straight, but she is an understanding person. That is what most people admire most about her. She’s not a pushover, but she’s willing to cut everyone some slack if they’re going through something at the time. To her students- she can often times seem more like one of the bunch of them than a teacher, and that’s why they tend to get along so well. The only downside to that is when she has to get control of the class for an inspection or something of the like.
Then there are those who know her outside of school and work. To these people- she could start to seem a little sad. The evidence of the cracks in her life is more apparent, and she’s not always forcing a smile like she is at work. She actually seems human, in that she has problems that she can’t exactly hide any longer. She seems to regret a lot of things in her history; though she never really talks about bad times in her past- only the good ones. At heart, she’s a realist. To the people- she’s an optimist.
found eighteen reasons i can't
PICK UP ON THE PHONE
mother -- Liberty Anne Sloan, 43, photographer.
father -- Bowie Sloan, 47, unemployed for the most part.
siblings -- None.
pets -- None as of yet- but Ozzie has been hopeful of getting a dog in the near future.
other -- None.
history -- Not much is really known about Ozzie’s childhood other than it was spent on the road. Quite literally. Most would term her childhood as an unstable one if they came to know the whole story, but it was simply Ozzie’s reality. Nothing seemed odd about her parents being high; nothing was strange about camping on the side of the road and roasting Oscar Mayer wieners over a little fire. Having grown up in a little van, Oz was used to working with little to no space at all. Socialization skills came at a later date, but nothing was ever really wrong. Not with her, anyway. Her parents were another story. They had some nasty habits, such as drinking a lot, smoking even more, and selling whatever it was they didn’t drink or smoke. They tried to keep Oz out of that part of their life- but with so little space, it’s hard to keep anything a secret from the other. They’re actually wanted in multiple states, which was part of the reason why they managed to send her to a boarding school when she was younger. She hasn’t seen them since she was thirteen years old.
Unlike most- Oz didn’t feel the need to be bitted about the experience. Her parents had left her with enough money to last her through boarding school- and when she needed something, she worked some “artsy-magic” as she termed it, and made a bit of extra money. At first, it really wasn’t all that much. But then people started hearing about her works, and eventually she was being commissioned for various paintings, sculptures, or drawings. A lot of fantasy RPGs have used her works as picture bases for whatever creatures lurk in those mythical pages, and other more renowned institutions have commissioned her. That was when the scholarships started coming about.
Unlike her parents- Oz had actually taken an interest in schooling. She didn’t want to ‘travel the country’ in a brightly colored van like her parents (though she does drive a bug, which is brightly colored), she wanted to build a future for herself. And so there she was, aged seventeen- pouring herself over college applications and filling out various scholarships, gathering signatures from old teachers and commissioners. One thing was always absent, however. A legal guardian’s signature. About a month before the end of her senior year at a school in California, Oz wound up forging her parents’ signatures and sending in the applications. She was accepted into an art school, and she gathered an associate’s degree. Now she’s ventured to this small town- working on completing an internship as an art teacher.
In general- that’s about all there is to her history. Further details are rarely told, and even then her stories of her own history seem to lack a sense of time.

this here application was made by quinn, who is rather impressed with herself for making it. and therefore, it should not be stolen. however, if you ask her nicely she'll probably be so flattered by the idea that someone wanted to use it that she'll surely hand it over. lyrics by wolf parade.
