your blood, your bones, your voice
AND YOUR GHOST
hair color -- Artemis’s hair is naturally a mixture of dark browns, ranging from a chestnut type colour to an almost black. The colours merge together to the dark brown colour, which is what most people see. It is hard to see that her hair is not all of these colours mixed together until you are quite close to her and look into her hair. She hates this colour; she finds that even though it is alot of colours it is still quite plain. She has dyed her hair few colours in the past few years but at the moment it is a deep red colour now. It is quite close to burgundy, but has an orange tint that makes it look quite bright. The colour suits her quite well, and every so often she changes it slightly, making it a tiny bit darker, a tiny bit brighter and once even making the underneath fade to orange to make it look like flames. She experiments with her hair alot so it is not easy to guess what it would be like in the day, though it is generally a reddish colour to a brown colour depending on her mood when she had decided to dye it.
eye color -- Artemis’s eyes are quite a bright blue with a silvery sheen over them. The blue colour is quite piercing and matches the sky on a clear summers day. The silvery colour over the top is quite odd, like someone has put a silvery material over the blue. It gives her a slightly dreamy look, though when she feels a specific mood it can change slightly. When she is quite happy her eyes seem more blue than silver, alot brighter than they usually are. When she is sad it seems that there is more silver, like her eyes are a grey blue colour. The colours changing really emphasise her mood, this often makes it hard for her to hide what she is feeling. She has worn contacts in the past, for parties and such and sometimes still wears them when she feels like it. It is quite often when you will see her with different colour eyes every day. Bright green, grey, brown and even colours like red, pink and purple. She just thinks that they look interesting and she finds it funny when people get confused about her eyes, thinking why on earth they are pink and why have they changed from yesterday?
height -- Five foot four inches.
weight -- One hundred and nine pounds.
build -- Artemis is about the average height for her age, but she looks maybe slightly taller as she is also quite thin. She doesn’t weight much at all, even though she eats properly and doesn’t exercise regularly. She is thin, but not very fit. Her muscles are okay for looks, but she would never last long in a sports game with them, the most she can do is running and swimming. If there was a word to describe her it would be willowy, making herself look taller is something she does to help this, by wearing high heels and such. Trying to look as old as she can.
distinguishing features? --
overall -- Artemis’s hair is a deep red colour most of the time and it hangs down her back to her waist in its natural state. She does not usually leave her hair just like that, as it is slightly wavy and is prone to being frizzy when it is just left there. Most of the time she straightens her hair, making in smooth and sleek. This also adds a few inches onto the ends, making it even longer, though once she has straightened it she usually puts it up, either in a pony tail or a spiky bun. She is prone to having lost of her hair cut of, then deciding against it and putting extensions in it. She often does this and it is easy to see her with short hair one day, and then long hair the next. Apart from straightening her hair she sometimes curls it, though she does not do this very often. She only curls it when she is going out, or it would look nice with a particular hairstyle that she wants to use. She never tries to copy people, always likes to change her hairstyle to something unique that still looks good, but if she sees something she likes she will try and recreate it in her own way, make it hers.
Artemis is quite pale, and tries to wear as little make up as possible. She would like to look a little more tanned, but she can’t get a real tan, fake tan just looks orange and foundation... that looks orange on her too. She doesn’t like to wear bright make up when she does wear it, as that emphasises her pale skin so she tries to wear pale make up, but not things like pink and blue, which annoy her, things like gold and silver. When she is going out she will wear some eyeliner and possibly darker lip-gloss and eye shadow but she doesn’t want people to think that she is the ultra gothic girl. She doesn’t wear much jewellery either, the most she has is maybe a set of earrings and a necklace, and not those large sparkly earrings or necklaces, just plain ones, usually black but fashionable, sometimes silver and gold. She tends to wear these more when she is going out, but then when she is in the mood she will often wear it in the school hours as well, though she does not wear as much as those that class themselves as the ‘royals’ who have to have everything perfect.
The clothes that she chooses to wear are not very showy; when she is just going around on her own she will wear a pair of jeans and a long sleeved top, nothing special about it at all. The clothes are usually dark, though sometimes she wears some bright colour with it, though not alot. She hates bright colours, as that is what her mother usually buys her. She sometimes wears skirts, though she is not a girly girl type, she just wears it when the mood suits her. If it is hot and she finds one that she really likes, she will wear it. If she is just going out and its absolutely freezing she will not go to that trouble like so many other girls. She doesn’t have a clue what the point is about. She just wants to be comfortable, but still look presentable. Most of her clothes are designer labels, so that she does not stand out from the crowd, no matter how much she wants to wear something nice that is affordable, she doesn’t want people to notice her that much, it’s bad enough when they catch her out of the corner of their eye.
i was a hero early in the morning
I AIN'T NO HERO IN THE NIGHT
likes -- Being alone, being calm, drawing, reading, people who don't try and talk to her, wandering around at night.
dislikes -- People making fun of her, people talking to her when she doesn't feel like it, bright colours, her family, not being allowed to go where she wants.
fears -- That her mother will get so drunk one day she will kill her, she will be stuck in a burning building.
habits -- Staring into space, ignoring people purposely, going off on her own.
secrets -- Her father used to sexually abuse her, her mother is a alcoholic.
overall -- The first thing people notice about Artemis is that she is very quiet. She avoids talking to anyone at all costs, the most she do is when the teacher calls out her name for registration she will mumble “Yes,” She doesn’t care that she will get in trouble, but she will not answer any questions in class unless it is a life or death situation. Its not that she doesn’t like to talk, she is just scared that if she dies talk to someone she will get carried away and all her secrets will spill out, she is much more content with people calling her a freak. She does speak to people sometimes, usually when there is only one person or at the most two in the whole room. If there is a few people she feels alot more confident that she will not say everything, and if she does it is only one person and she hopes that she will talk to someone who will keep her secrets or will just laugh at her there and then and get it over with. She is scared that someone will find out and spread it around the school, as she knows most of the popular students just love gossip.
She is prone to getting angry, but she always tries to keep it in. No matter how much she wants to go up to the person who has annoyed her and hit them as hard as she could she stays silent and glares into space. She can’t help it sometimes; even if she wants to hit someone she knows that it would be wrong. She wants to be calm, even subconsciously, she wants to be quiet, and she wants nothing to ever happen to her. She may feel violent but she will just sit there, she doesn’t want to act like her mother when she is drunk. When she is angry she will usually wander off by herself and go somewhere quiet where she can sit down quietly, or she will sit there and hit as many things that are in her reach. She knows hitting other people is wrong, but that doesn’t mean she can’t hit inanimate objects or bang her head against a cupboard. She will often do this and sometimes has been very close to putting her hand though a glass window., but she has always stopped herself at the last moment. She just wishes that she doesn’t feel like that.
If she does talk to someone, which is very, very rare you can see that she is actually quite nice. She can’t be classed as confident, or insecure as she is usually both at the same time, about different things. She is absolutely scared that her mother will hurt her badly while she is drunk and that the students at school will find out, yet she can totally ignore people calling her a freak and making fun of her. She doesn’t have many friends, if any at all but she would love to have some, just someone that she could talk to and explain things. But then she doesn’t know who she can trust and she is frightened she will trust the wrong person and that it would go terribly. Being alone is her chance to have no one talk to her and not have to worry about what she is saying; she could talk to herself if she wanted to. She often just wants to sit there and close her eyes, hoping that it would somehow make her life okay and everything would be perfect, she would have friends, a nice family. She would have everything that she wanted.
Artemis could be classed as a Mozart if she did not have so much drama in her life. She loves to draw when she is upset and angry, one of the traits from her mother that she is actually glad that she has. She is very good at drawing though she hardly ever shows anybody what she had done. Again, if someone notices her drawings they may want to talk to her and so on. She will usually just sit in the library and draw, or maybe wander out at night time and be alone to draw. Being in the library is also a good place for her, as she loves to read as well as draw. She loves fantasy books as they are nothing like real life and she doesn’t have to be reminded of her own life or other peoples perfect lives.

siblings -- Lios Falton, 16, brother.

history -- Artemis was born in Bexhill to Kirsten and Paul Falton, their second child. She has one brother who is one year older than her called Lios. For the first five years of her life she was the baby of the family, not exactly spoilt but she was loved by her family, even her brother. The family lived in a estate like the west end of London, in a large house that Paul had bought with the amount of money he got from his accountant job and the money Kirsten had from being a artist. Both of her parents earned alot more money than they needed so their family was quite happy. They had no family living close to them, but they were fine with that. With both of her parent’s jobs their house was nearly always full of adults and children alike. Artemis had many friends all over the country, even at a young age. She loved the fact that so many different people came to their house every day, whether it was to look at her mothers paintings and drawings or it was to ask for her fathers help with their money. Really, Lios and Artemis had it all, friends, money and a loving family.
When Artemis turned five though her father started acting odd towards her, picking her up more often and coming home when Artemis was being looked after by a babysitter, even though he was supposed to be at work. For a few months it was just like this, he came home to see her saying that he had missed her and that he wanted to spend alot of time with her, she was fine with it. It was fun having her father at home, he played with her toys and they watched TV together. But then one day when he came home he said that they would play a special game that he chose, that was the first day that he sexually abused her, leaving her in tears at home. Her mother asked her what was wrong when she came home from her gallery, but her father had told her that she wasn’t to tell her mother, that it was a secret or he would be home every day. It was a few days a week that he came home and did this, for six years, until she was eleven years old. When she was eleven her mother came home as she had forgotten her phone and there she saw Paul in the kitchen and a crying Artemis on the stairs. She put two and two together and she moved out with Artemis and Lios.
Artemis, her mother and her brother, moved all over the country for two years, before moving to America. It was hard for the two children to adjust to American schools, Artemis more than Lios. Her mother had started drinking and was becoming increasingly violent towards her children before they were enrolled in Jefferson Heights. Lios took to the school immediately, becoming one of teh royals, the more popular students. Artemis was deemed a ‘dreamer’ and the other students took delight in trying to wind her up, the silent girl was the butt of many jokes in the school.

this here application was made by quinn, who is rather impressed with herself for making it. and therefore, it should not be stolen. however, if you ask her nicely she'll probably be so flattered by the idea that someone wanted to use it that she'll surely hand it over. lyrics by wolf parade.
