AND YOUR GHOST
hair color -- Miles’s hair is a jet black colour, just totally black. His hair has been a few colours in the past, when he was in high school he dyed his hair alot, at one point it was bright red, though that was a joke from someone else. He had only recently stopped dying his hair all of these colours when he had got his degree and had started to become a teacher and thought that maybe a little normality was needed. The black colour can have an almost blue tint when the sun hits it, and unlike a few black colours it does not seem brown at all.
eye color -- His eye colour is quite difficult to see at most times. In dull lighting his eyes seem like a dull grey colour, nothing very interesting in them at all. Inside school this is the colour that most people see, and see that his eyes are really nothing special. Whenever a light in shone on his eyes or he is outside in the sun his eyes can either have a blue tint, or a green tint. When the sun shines on his eyes you can see it makes them look an almost brilliant blue colour, so different from the grey colour most people see. When a light, like a bulb or a torch is shone onto them they look a green colour, a pale green that is actually quite close to the grey colour. It makes them look an icy colour. His eyes confuse many people, especially when they have seen all three of the colours. Some people say this his eyes are kind of like cats eyes, they chance slightly with the light and he must have very dull blue/green eyes that just show up in special lighting. But it doesn’t make him happy when people try and shine lights in his eyes.
height -- six foot two inches.
weight -- one hundred and fourty pounds.
build -- Miles is quite tall and quite thin so he can be described as lanky in a way. Though of course he doesn’t look like he has been locked in a cupboard or three weeks without any food. He does have muscles that make him look less than a pole, but he isn’t bodybuilder worthy really, though ask him about it and he would proudly say he is the strongest man in the school. The most people notice of his build is his height anyway, though many other people are as tall as him or even taller. It just happens that his normality is just that, the most interesting part of his physique.
distinguishing features? --
overall -- The most amazing thing about Miles’s appearance is his ability to make himself noticeable or not. He stands at the height of six foot two but he can still hide from people pretty well, even when he is plain sight. He uses this to his advantage in many situations, one of the usual ones being when he sees the principal in the corridors and he really doesn’t want to be told about his work. He can also make it so that you can’t help but notice him, he uses this to his advantage in most lessons (but really, when he is telling you to dump the whole lot of potassium in water to watch the flames who isn’t listening?) But that is usually it really, he can either be not there at all, all the center of attention, there is no in the middle. Its not like he doesn’t mind being the one everyone looks at, he finds it fun and it helps him all of the time. It is not very often that he tries to hide, that’s only when it is a real emergency and so on. Like, if he has done something and has the risk of being fired, he will usually be unnoticeable for a few days afterwards.
His hair, like said before, is a jet black colour. His hair is also slightly longer than usual, hanging just below his ears at the sides. His hair is perfectly straight, and its not like he goes around curling it, he likes it how it is and would never try and do anything like that to it. The most that gets done to it is a haircut every now and then and a brush every morning, though if he pays attention or not its really another matter altogether. If there is something very important going on in the day he can make his hair look quite smart, properly brushed and so on. But if he is just going to be teaching with no interruptions by other teachers he just makes it look slightly presentable. After a few lessons though his hair can look far from presentable, usually messy and sticking up in places. He doesn’t mind though and it actually suits him, better than when he is trying to look smart anyway. He figures he should just leave it as it comes if this is true. No point in changing something that doesn’t need to be changed, even if it is his hair.
He often tries to wear what he wants, all of the time. He usual attire for work consists of jeans, a t-shirt, trainers and a jacket over a top. If someone comes in to watch him teach he usually comes with a suit, you know, shirt, tie the whole thing. But after that one inspection the tie is usually ‘lost’ somewhere and the jacket is in a pile in the corner. He hates looking like a usual teacher and it isn’t just that, he knows it would annoy people if he comes into school wearing whatever he wants and it amuses him. Especially the principal, he can’t help but feeling happy when he sees his face when he is wearing his jeans. But surely he should get used to it now? He hopes that people never will, but he is glad that the students enjoy the fact he annoys these people, and he often thinks that it is good he dresses more like them as many people say he acts more like a teenager than he does an adult. He doesn’t care, he likes it that way.
i was a hero early in the morning
I AIN'T NO HERO IN THE NIGHT
likes -- Sugar, coffee, fire, teaching, students, music, concerts, scary movies, alcohol, talking, messing around, annoying other teachers, chemistry.
dislikes -- Rules, boredom, the Principal, Fussy teachers, being fired, his car breaking down, taking the bus, the cold, snow, being slow.
fears -- Arguments, spiders, that someone will break his car.
habits -- Blaming things on other people, running everywhere he goes, playing with fire.
secrets -- He is scared of getting fired this time as he likes this school.
overall -- There are two different opinions of Miles, the adult one and the student one. The adult’s view of him is usually bad. Things like ‘childish’ and ‘immature’ pop up all of the time, while the students say that he is fun and lively and will do anything for a laugh. Sure, he can be irresponsible but he likes it that way and he would never act like someone else. He is often found among the students and not the other teachers, he finds people his own age are boring and don’t do anything fun, but he can speak to students for hours. They have the same interests as him and just generally like him. He doesn’t get why the teachers don’t like him, if they actually tried to like him they might, but he just supposes that they are waay to mature, even for adults. Not everyone can be sitting around all day doing paperwork, you actually have to do something fun, maybe go out once in a while or just have fun in school. It is possible if you actually tried to do it, Miles managed it all of the time but that could be because he had the fun subject in the school.
Miles is nearly always hyper, people say it is to do with the fact he eats loads of sugar, but he says it is just natural to him. But he does love sugar, sweets, loads of sugar in coffee, he just eats it all of the time. He also runs around alot too, he hates to walk anywhere in the school. Its a waste of time, imagine all of the things he could be doing, but instead he is being slow and walking! Most people are used to him running past them in the corridors now, its a usual occurrence. And even though he hates being slow he is nearly always late for everything, but that may just be his excuse for driving down the roads as fast as his car will let him and running through the school. Its nearly every day when he will run into a class three minutes after it has started, much to the amusement of his students. Its now just running that’s fast, when he is really into something and explaining things he usually talks quite fast that so many of the students and teachers can’t understand him, though he rarely repeats what he had said. Waste of time!
Irresponsible is one of the correct words for him, he never listens to any rules and if he does he is not likely to ever keep to them. Like the dress code for teachers, suits? No way, he comes in wearing whatever he wants and he laughs when he gets away with it. His lessons are some of the few dangerous ones in the school for the fact that he loves to experiment. Most of the week it is basic, but fun stuff. But on Fridays it is all let loose, he disconnects the fire alarms in his room and he brings out the big toys. He keeps loads of Bunsen burners, chemicals, metals and even a flame thrower for these days. There is nothing that he won’t do, he takes his students out to the lawns on some days and they have a really big experiment, usually connected to a bonfire with a few chemicals and such like here and there so he can show them the colours that they made. It’s really too bad the principal never found out what that big black patch was, or why there were a few burnt marshmallows lying on the floor. When asked Miles shook his head and complained about ‘those dammed teenagers, you know, the druggies at night?’ and left it at that.
Contrary to his personality he is very intelligent, he studied at Harvard University and came out with some of the best Chemistry results of his year. Instead of going into anything important though he went to a job in teaching, thinking that it would be fun. He had got fired three times, but Jefferson has kept him on for his grades. He knows the periodic table off by heart and can recite every elements Atomic number and Mass number. You want to know all the Compounds? He will tell you the Mixtures too. Ask him anything about his subject and you will get the right answer. The only time he can seem relatively mature is when he is talking about chemistry with someone on the same level as him, but it isn’t like you will understand what he is talking about anyway.

history -- Miles was born to Anthony and Helen Dawson in the wonderfully wet country of England. It was in the county of Nottinghamshire that he lived, in the middle east of the country. He had no other siblings but he had many cousins, daughters and sons of his fathers siblings. He grew up in a very large family atmosphere even though his intermediate family was tiny. Not one day passed where he did not see someone that was related to him, and it was often that he was told he was like ‘insert cousins name here’ or looked a little like ‘insert uncles name here’. When he was very young the one person in his family that he was the closest to was his grandfather, his fathers father. He would often spend time with him, and when his mother and father were working his grandfather would happily look after him. He was always told that he would be great when he grew up, his grandfather was very intelligent but had ended up working in the mines when he was younger, and he regretted that now. He told Miles that he would be amazing, but you don’t have to do what everyone expects you to do, go with whatever you think is the best for you, what you will have more fun doing.
He lived in Nottinghamshire until he was five years old, in the time it was planned that the family would live their with their extended family for a long time, but unfortunately Miles’s grandfather had lung cancer from his job in the mines many years ago and died a few months after he turned five years old. Anthony was terribly upset and decided that he could not live there any more because it always reminded him of his grandfather, and he loved his brothers and his sisters but they too would remind him and he just couldn’t deal with it. After the funeral he started looking for places to live, he didn’t want to be close to Nottinghamshire so he looked at places like London and the south coast of England, places where he would be no where near the rest of his family. He was starting to decide more on the south coast, it was by the sea, it was warmer and it would be quite a good environment for Miles. Just before he was going to tell Helen he found an amazing deal on a house, in America. It took a little time to decide on it but finally it was done, Anthony, Helen and Miles were going to move to America. Just in time for Miles to go to school.
They moved to Colombia, South Carolina. Miles missed his family but he was happy where they had moved, and he started in his first elementary school. He had quite a few friends in his school and was always ready to make more, he loved to be surrounded by lots and lots of children his own age, he was never the leader of the group he was in but he always made himself known with whoever he was hanging around with, everyone knew Miles. In elementary school it was great, he had a blast there had his favourite subject was science. He didn’t know what it was, but it always interested him. If it was anything it would probably be the experiments, always doing something practical and fun. He always had more fun with the chemistry side, making Copper Sulphate crystals in the window and first learning about the periodic table. He may have not been so good at subjects like English and History, but he was doing quite well in Maths and Science and he was told that if he kept to them he would have a chance at getting a good job, he recognised this as being close to what his grandfather had told him.
In Middle School he definitely excelled in Chemistry and got the best marks in his class. His time in Middle School was much like everyone else’s really, he had a few crushes on some girls in the two years that he was there. He was never really classed as one of the smart ones, or the ‘nerds’ as it was only one class that he was the best in. This confused people and most of the popular students decided to ignore him most of the time, though they never really had anything against him and would often talk to him if they had to. His friends didn’t really change that much from Elementary school, though some of them were starting to hang around with students from the High school to try and get into good crowds for it. Miles didn’t follow their lead though, he was fine where he was for now and he was glad that some of his other friends didn’t do this, Miles preferred to have friends his own age anyway, the older students didn’t really like him that much so he didn’t even try and bother with them. It also slightly scared him, in case it gave them a bad impression of him for when he went there.
